The Office for National Statistics published the latest population estimates for mid-2020 on 25 June 2021. 

Bradford has a total estimated population of 542,100 - an increase of 2,400 people (0.4%) since 2019

The population consists of 49% men and 51% women.

Bradford is the fifth largest local authority in England in terms of population after Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester

Life expectancy at birth is 77.3 for males and 81.5 for females

26.3% of the District's population is aged under 18 and Bradford has the fourth highest percentage in England after the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Slough Borough Council and Luton Borough Council.

Bradford has a median age of 36.7 which is lower than the median age for England (40.2) and Yorkshire and the Humber region (40.2) and the second lowest (after Leeds which has a median age of 35.1) in West Yorkshire.
