Use the online planning register
View or track a planning application online
The online planning register lets you view planning applications submitted to the Council.
Most applications submitted on or after 1 January 1997 include:
- the application form
- plans and drawings
- supporting documents
- comments from consultees
- the decision notice
- Section 106 agreements, where applicable
Some documents may not be available
Not all documents can be viewed online.
This is because of data protection rules. For example, representations from the public and any personal or medical information submitted to help support an application.
Large files
Some applications contain a large number of documents. These may take longer to load, depending on your internet connection.
Search using a map
If you are looking for an application linked to a piece of land, a housing development, a commercial development, or a building conversion, it may be easier to use the online mapping system.

Historical planning applications
The amount of information available online depends on when the application was submitted.
Applications from 1 January 1997 onwards
- Full application details are available online.
- Application documents are available online.
Applications from 1 November 1993 to 31 December 1996
- Full application details are available online.
- Documents are held on microfiche unless they have been scanned.
Applications from 1 April 1974 to 31 October 1993
- Limited application details are available online.
- Documents are held on microfiche unless they have been scanned.
Applications before 1974
- Use historical plotting sheets to find application details.
- Documents are held on microfiche.
Finding older applications
Use the online mapping system to find older planning applications.
Check both:
- planning applications within 100 metres
- images of the historical plotting sheets
Applications submitted before 1993 also have a historical reference number.
For example:
