Notice of ballot: Proposed Renewal Business Improvement District for Ilkley

Local Government Act 2003 Business Improvement Districts (England) Regulations 2004

This is to give notice that a ballot is to be held on the proposal of the Ilkley BID to renew the Business Improvement District (BID) for Ilkley. The ballot will be conducted entirely by post.

A Business Improvement District [BID] is an area within which projects specified in the BID arrangements are to be carried out for the benefit of that district or those who live, work or carry on any activity in the district. Those projects are financed (in whole or in part) by a BID levy imposed on the non-domestic ratepayers, or a class of such ratepayers in the district.  A Business Improvement District may only be established where those entitled to vote approve the BID proposals.

Copies of the BID Proposal Document can be requested from Ilkley BID Office, Town Hall, Station Road, Ilkley, LS29 8HB or by email to helen@ilkleybid.co.uk.  BID proposal document is also available to view at www.ilkleybid.co.uk.

City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, Electoral Services, 3rd Floor, City Hall, Centenary Square, Bradford, BD1 1HY have been appointed under Regulation 6 of The Business Improvement Districts (England) Regulations 2004 to discharge the Ballot Holders functions in relation to holding this ballot.

Ballot papers will be sent to those eligible to vote on Monday, 19 February 2024 for return by no later than 5pm on Thursday, 21 March 2024 (the "day of the ballot").

Who can vote?

Persons shall be eligible to vote in the ballot if they fall into the class of non-domestic ratepayer situated in the geographical area of the proposed BID as of the date of this notice and they are liable for the BID levy as described in the BID proposals. Each person entitled to vote in this ballot shall have one vote in respect of each hereditament occupied or (if unoccupied) owned by them in the geographical area of the proposed BID.

All persons entitled to vote will be sent a letter setting out the arrangements for the ballot that  will include arrangements for proxy voting, lost or spoilt ballot papers and the result.
