Safe and Sound equipment information
Alarm unit
An alarm base unit fitted in your home links all equipment provided to you to the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). The alarm unit will raise an alert when a piece of equipment is activated. The new Digital alarm base unit only requires an electric socket and works on SIM technology, it does not require a telephone or broadband connection.
Basic pendant
The basic pendant can be worn around the neck or on the wrist and when pressed an alert will be raised to our Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC).
Falls pendant
A falls pendant can be worn around the neck, on the wrist or can be clipped to clothing. It will raise an alert to the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) in the event of an impactful fall if someone is unconscious and unable to speak but it also will allow the wearer to call for help by pressing the button like the basic pendant.
Jellybean button
The Jellybean is a large, lightweight red button that can be connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) and acts in the same way as a basic pendant. This sensor is perfect for those who have visual or physical impairments and are especially useful for people who have poor coordination in their hands who would find pressing a basic pendant difficult.
Notifier
This is only available as part of a Standalone Package. A notifier is a portable device that will immediately alert the carer/next of kin, living on site with the named person, that an incident has occurred. This is especially useful for carers who have disturbed sleep due to night-time risks or for people who prefer not to be connected to a 24-hour monitoring service.
When the telecare sensor is activated, the Notifier will vibrate, beep and light up the screen to alert the carer/next of kin to the incident allowing them to take speedy and appropriate action.
Chair sensor
A Chair Sensor is a pressure pad which monitors if someone remains sat in a chair. It automatically raises an alarm call in the event of someone standing or an unusual movement. It can be placed on top or under the chair cushion. We would come to an agreement with a user about what would be the best way to monitor the use of these pads if required.
Bed sensor
The Bed Sensor is designed to automatically raise an alert if someone:
- has not gone to bed by a predetermined time.
- has not got out of bed by the predetermined time.
- gets out of bed during the night and does not return within a predetermined time period.
The bed sensor is a wide pad that is placed under or on top of the mattress to allow minimal disruption to sleep.
This can be linked to a care assist (Notifier) unit or linked to the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) via an Alarm base unit.
Door sensor / property exit sensor
The Property Exit Sensor is suitable for people who are at risk of leaving their house at unusual times of the day and night and can detect if someone has left their house and not returned within the set time period.
The device will raise an alarm to the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), and they will alert a family member or carer. An alarm can also be set if the door is left open for a specified period of time.
Smoke detector
The sensor detects fire or excessive smoke and alerts the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). An operator would attempt to contact the person to determine the cause of the alarm. If any concerns are raised or contact cannot be established the fire service will be alerted. Family contacts and mobile responders are not used in these instances.
Two smoke detectors are provided within a home safety package/home safety plus package.
Heat sensor
Heat Detectors can be put in places where an early alert to a potential fire is needed. When heat rises, for example if a pan is left on a stove the heat detector would give a loud audible alarm to notify the person and at the same time sends an automated alert to the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC)
An operator would attempt to contact the person to determine the cause of the alarm and offer guidance and support to the individual. If any concerns are raised or contact cannot be established the fire service will be alerted. Family contacts and mobile responders are not used in these instances.
Flood detector
The Flood Detector can be placed under a sink or next to a bath. The wireless device has 3 alarms, and if 2 of the 3 sensors detect water it will raise an alarm to the 24-hour monitoring centre. A local alarm will sound if the device detects water, and an automated call will enter the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC)
An operator would attempt to contact the person to determine the cause of the alarm and offer guidance and support to the individual. If any concerns are raised or contact cannot be established the operators will contact the named carer or Next of Kin
Floor sensor
The Pressure Sensor Mat is a versatile sensor and can be placed on a floor to detect if someone has left their bed, room or home. This discreet sensor can be set up to monitor activity and will raise an alert if stepped on. This can be used with the Care Assist (notifier) device, where a bed sensor cannot be used.
Bogus caller
This small device can be attached to the inside of a front or back door and if any unwanted or unexpected caller is at the door, the button can be pressed discreetly. This will raise a silent alarm to the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), who will be able to hear the conversation and act appropriately. The Call Centre records the conversation in case it is needed for future use.
Epilepsy sensor (can only be requested by a medical professional)
An epilepsy sensor is used in conjunction with a Care Assist (Notifier) and monitors movement and can tell the difference between normal movements from epileptic seizures.
If a seizure is detected, the sensor will alert the Care Assist (Notifier) device to allow family or a carer to respond. If a family member or carer does not live in the same property Safe and Sound would come to an agreement with you about what would be the best way to monitor the use of these sensors if required.
Medication dispenser
The Medication Pill dispenser is for people who take many tablets or have a complex combination of tablets to be taken daily or in a specified time frame. The package includes the medication dispenser and tray. The portable device can be set up with a scheduled time for each dose and create an alert for the user to take their medication.
Should you need additional support to retrieve medication from this device a tipper can be provided following discussion with Safe and Sound.
