What is the Community meals service?

The service offers both a hot or frozen meal service delivered to your home. The meals consist of two courses - a starter and main course or main course and dessert. Salads are also available.

The meals are nutritionally balanced and cater for a wide variety of dietary and cultural needs such as diabetic, gluten free, vegetarian, Asian, Halal, African-Caribbean, soft diet and pureed diets.

Community meals are for residents of Bradford District. No assessment is required. Please be aware there is no financial support available for this service.

Hot meal service

How does the hot meal service work?

  • You are able to choose how many meals a week you would like 
  • You are able to choose the days of the week you would like your meals delivered 
  • You can start and end these services whenever you like 
  • You can have meals on a short term basis, for example to cover a holiday period 
  • Meals are delivered seven days a week, 365 days of the year including Bank Holidays, Christmas and New Year’s Day 
  • The driver will deliver your meal between 11am and 1.30pm

If you cannot get to the door, the driver can use door entry codes or a key safe to come into your home and deliver your meal.

If the delivery driver cannot gain access to your home they will contact:

  • the emergency contact number you have provided 
  • the Support Options Team 
  • the emergency services, if appropriate

This wellbeing check is part of the service.

The hot meals service is provided by Bradford Council’s Support Options Team in partnership with Park Care Meals.

How much does the hot meal service cost?

The cost of a meal is £5.65 for two courses. This includes a both main meal and the choice of a hot or cold dessert.

You can pay:

  • daily or weekly by cash or cheque to the delivery driver 
  • by a monthly invoice can be issued and payment made by bank transfer, cheque or standing order

A tea time meal pack can be delivered at the same time as your hot meal. The cold evening teas consist of a sandwich, dessert and drink at a cost of £3, or you can order just the sandwich and dessert for £2.15.

Frozen Meal Service

How does the frozen meal service work?

  • You can choose when to have your meal and what you want to have 
  • There is no charge for delivery to your home 
  • A minimum of five meals per person will be delivered. You can choose which day of the week your meals are delivered 
  • The driver will store your frozen meals in your freezer

The Frozen Meal Service is provided by Bradford Council's Support Options Team in partnership with Park Care Meals. All drivers carry identity cards and Disclosure and Barring Service Checks have been completed for all drivers.

How much does the frozen meal service cost?

The cost of a meal is £4 per meal this includes a main course and a starter or dessert. The meals can be heated in a microwave or conventional oven

You can pay by:

  • On the day of delivery by cash or cheque to the delivery driver 
  • A monthly invoice can be issued and payment made by bank transfer, cheque or standing order
