Bradford and Airedale Community Equipment Service

What is the Bradford and Airedale Community Equipment Service?

The Bradford and Airedale Community Equipment Service (BACES) is a partnership between Bradford Social Services and the NHS in Bradford and Airedale.

This service has been set up to provide you and your family with a wide range of equipment to help you live more independently.

All our equipment is clean and maintained to the highest standards.

What equipment do we offer?

Equipment to help with:

  • moving, handling and walking
  • bathing, showering and toileting
  • household and kitchen tasks
  • nursing tasks

What do I do if I need help?

Your Occupational Therapist can discuss your needs with you and agree on the equipment that will be suitable. If you do not have an Occupational Therapist, please contact the Independence Advice Hub on 01274 435400.  You can contact your District Nurse via Single Point of Access on 01274 256131 to discuss your needs.

You may get independent advice on suitable equipment from Disability Equipment Bradford.

Whoever you choose to talk to will offer you advice and suggest certain items of equipment that will help.

Please do not be afraid to ask.

Do I need to pay for equipment I borrow from BACES?

Most equipment from BACES is loaned to you free of charge.

If you prefer you can purchase your own equipment and Disability Equipment Bradford can help you with this.

What do I do if the equipment is no longer required?

If the equipment we provided is no longer needed by you or the person you care for arrangements can be made to have it collected.

Please contact the BACES receptionist for help and advice.

What do I do if the equipment is broken?

Please contact us as soon as possible.

If it is a simple breakdown the team will usually be able carry out repairs or maintenance to the equipment in your own home. In some circumstances this may not be possible and we will have to return it to our stores. In this case the equipment will be replaced or other alternatives discussed with you.

We will try and ensure the minimum disruption to you and your carer.
