Refurbishment of Keighley Leisure Centre
When is Keighley Leisure Centre closing?
Keighley Leisure Centre closed for refurbishment on 1 February 2025 and it is estimated that the work will take until early summer. Bradford Council will keep customers informed of the progress of the work and the reopening date will be confirmed once the work is nearing completion.
What does the refurbishment entail?
The work being carried out includes a full rewire, a new pool filtration system, the installation of a new solar powered heating system and repairs to the main slide. They will mean that The Leisure Centre Keighley will be able to operate in a more energy and cost-efficient way making it much more environmentally and financially sustainable.
What does this mean for Club Active members?
Club Active members will no longer be able to use the main Keighley Leisure Centre facility, however a small number of classes will still be accessible at Victoria Hall next door. Timetables will be posted on the Keighley Leisure Centre page. Members can also continue to use other facilities in the district, with the closet ones being Thornton or Shipley.
If you wish, you can cancel your membership without fee and you will be refunded for any remaining time left on your membership. You can also pause your membership and reinstate it once the facility is reopened.

How is the work being funded?
The work is expected to cost approximately £900,000. Almost £460,000 of that is being funded by UK Government and the Swimming Pool Support Fund (SPSF). The rest is being invested by Bradford Council’s Sports and Leisure Facilities Budget. The work will ensure that future operating costs are reduced.
