Coronavirus (Covid-19): submission of planning applications

We are unable to accept paper planning applications and payments by cheque for the foreseeable future as our staff won’t be in the office to administer planning applications and scan documentation. Please help us by submitting applications and payments online through The Planning Portal.

Planning PortalMake an application online

We welcome the submission of planning applications online through the Planning Portal. The Planning Portal will take you through the online submission process from selecting the appropriate forms and attaching documents to formally submitting the application and paying the application fee.

Apply via the Planning Portal

You can buy maps from the planning portal to support your application using the Planning Portal's - Buy a Plan.

Please note that some applications cannot currently be submitted via the online  system. Application forms for these application types can be downloaded from the Planning Portal.

Other ways to apply

You can also apply by post. Application forms can be downloaded from the Planning Portal website and sent to the address on this page.

You will need to send us one copy of the application form, plans and relevant supporting documents.

National and local information requirements for applications

You need to make sure that you submit all of the correct supporting documents with your application. The national and local information requirements and related guidance documents for planning and related applications can be found on the Planning Application Information Requirements webpage.

We have also produced good practice guidance on how to describe planning applications.

Community Infrastructure Levy

From 1 July 2017, applications for residential development, retail warehouses, large supermarkets and residential extensions over 100sq m in size are liable for the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

More information about the CIL requirements and process can be found on the Community Infrastructure Levy Requirements page.

Fees and charges

You can calculate the fee for any application using the Planning Portal's - Fee Calculator.

Details of planning fees are also available.
