Bradford Homes frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Bradford Homes and the current system?

  • Bradford Homes is a website where you can submit applications online.
  • You can manage your account online including property preferences and contact details
  • BradfordHomes only matches applicants in Band 1, 2 or 3 to properties. Applicants in General Need (Property Shop band) are required to bid for properties in the Property Shop.
  • BradfordHomes allows applicants in any band to bid for available properties in the Property Shop.

I have an existing application, will I need to re-register on the new system?

Yes. You will need to register online on BradfordHomes in order to be considered for a home.

We will only transfer applications to BradfordHomes for those applicants who have an active case with Housing Options.

I don’t have access to a computer, how can I register on BradfordHomes?

You can register using any mobile phone or tablet device with access to the internet. You can also use the computers at your local library.

What will happen to my existing application?

If you have an active application on the current system, you will continue to match to properties until the 31 March 2020. After 31 March 2020, your application will be closed.

Will I lose my application date from my current application?

Your new application date will be the date that you register online with BradfordHomes. This will not affect your position on the waiting list for housing as this is calculated based on your application band and the date that you were placed in this band.

Will I lose my band from my current application?

Within 6 weeks of registering online with BradfordHomes, your band and the date that you were given this band, will be automatically transferred to your new application. Statutory Need applications will be placed in Band 1, Urgent Need will be placed in Band 2 and Reasonable Preference will be placed in Band 3. You do not need to contact us unless your band has not been amended after 6 weeks.

Do I need to provide any evidence to support my online application?

If you have an existing application that has been banded at Reasonable Preference, Urgent Need or Statutory Need, you will not need to provide any further evidence to support your BradfordHomes application.

If you are applying for housing for the first time, you may need to provide some evidence to confirm your circumstances. As you complete your online application, you will be advised which information to provide.

Will I still be matched to properties?

If your application on BradfordHomes is in Band 1, 2 or 3, you will continue to be matched to properties based on your application preferences. You can also bid on available properties in the property shop.

If your application is in Band 4 (Property Shop), you will no longer be matched for properties and you must place bids within the Property Shop.

Do I need to bid for properties?

If your application on BradfordHomes is in Band 1, 2 or 3 there is no requirement to bid on properties as your application will continue to match to properties. However, you will increase your chances of rehousing if you place bids in the Property Shop.

If your application is in Band 4 (Property Shop), you will only be considered for a property if you place a bid.

How many bids can I place a week?
