Approval of premises for civil marriage and civil partnership

The Grant of Approval allows for premises within the Bradford and Keighley Registration District to hold civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies only. Religious ceremonies are not allowed. Ceremonies are conducted by staff from the Bradford and Keighley Register Office.

Venues considered to be appropriate include public buildings, hotels or restaurants but not private homes.

If you are a new venue considering applying for a Grant of Approval, it is advisable to contact the Register Office and ask that your premises be viewed as, once your application and payment is submitted, should be it found that the venue is not suitable your fee of £1200 would not be refunded.

If the approval is granted it will last for three years unless there is need to revoke the approval. No further fees are payable to the Local Authority in this regard until you re-apply for an approval for the following three years.

Registration officers will provide a service, subject to availability, between the hours of 10am and 4pm for the commencement of the latest ceremony on all days except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Good Friday.
