Comments policy for Bradford Council social media sites

You are welcome to post your comments, pictures and videos on our social media accounts. However, please be aware that your contributions are public and available to anyone visiting the accounts.

Comments and replies on our social media accounts reflect the views of the person submitting them and do not reflect Bradford Council policy.

If you wish to contact the Council with a complaint or a request for service please contact us through our website or through our Customer Contact Centre on 01274 431000. Media enquiries should be directed to our communications team on 01274 433526.

Please note that enquiries made through our social media accounts are handled by our customer service centre.

Anything posted on our social media accounts, or replies to our posts, are also subject to the policies of the host provider such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.

To protect your privacy, and the privacy of others, do not include personal or confidential information in your comments or responses.

Comments and replies on our social media accounts (such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube) are not moderated prior to posting, but we do moderate comments on our blogs.

Bradford Council reserves the right to remove any materials (including comments, profile pictures, videos and pictures) that:

• pose a security or privacy risk 
• contain confidential information about yourself, or someone else 
• refer to Council employees by name 
• are considered spam or commercial advertising 
• are unlawful, harassing, abusive or threatening 
• are obscene, sexually suggestive or profane (ie swearing) 
• are racist, homophobic, ageist or sexist or are perceived to be offensive to any group of individuals 
• promote, or are perceived to promote, the interests of political party, group or candidates 
• are an infringement of intellectual property or copyright law 
• spam and off-topic content (persistent, irrelevant, negative and/or abusive posts)
• are in any other way deemed to be offensive or inappropriate for this page.

Repeated violation of these rules will result in your account being blocked from our social media accounts. In serious cases we may report a post to the police.

All interaction on our social media accounts should be in English.

Comments you make on social media will not affect or influence the service you receive from Bradford Council.

Bradford Council does not endorse or take responsibility for any material that may be reached through links posted on our social media accounts. When you follow a link please note that you are leaving Bradford Council accounts. Bradford Council will share information about local charities, community groups and fundraising events on social media if it is appropriate to our audience and is in keeping with the purpose of the account.

Bradford Council does not guarantee any information posted by individuals on our social media accounts is correct and disclaims any liability for any loss or damage resulting from reliance on this information.

Only Bradford Council employees acting in their official capacity are authorised to administer our social media accounts.

Bradford Council reserves the right to remove the comments functionality at any time if it is being abused.
