What decals should my vehicle be wearing?

- Rear doors should display the operator you are currently accepting bookings from, fitted centrally.
- Bradford Council licensed Private Hire vehicles are no longer required to wear front and rear windscreen visors.

When will I receive my Bradford Council door decal and plate?
Renewal vehicle applications
Within 48 hours of your vehicle test being booked, we will request your vehicle plate and all the fixings to be posted to the address that is on your vehicle application. Once this is received you are required to attach it to your vehicle before your vehicle has been in for test.
Please note: It is your responsibility to put your new plate on your vehicle and bring it in for test on the date you have been provided with.
New vehicle applications
Once your vehicle has been inspected and passed, your plate will then be posted to the address on your application form alongside your new Bradford Council door decals. These items will be sent via Royal Mail 24-hour tracked service the following day, ensuring timely delivery without requiring a signature.
You will receive a bracket and fixings, a plate, Bradford Council door decals, and a windscreen disc. You will also be sent your vehicle licence after your test.
Additional information
All deliveries are fulfilled direct by MOGO and dispatched via Royal Mail 24 hour special delivery to the registered home address the Licensing Service holds on record for you.
You will receive a confirmation email from MOGO within 24 hours of your vehicle passing inspection. This email will contain your tracking number for your delivery.
Please note: As all plates and associated licensing items are posted to your registered address via our external supplier, these will not be provided at your vehicle inspection.

I operate a hire company. Will all vehicle plates, decals and windscreen discs still be posted to my registered address?
Yes, all plates, windscreen discs and door decals will be posted to the address you have registered with us.
It is then the responsibility of the Hire Company to ensure that the individuals leasing or hiring the vehicle/s receive their Bradford Council door decals and plate promptly. The Hire Company may then choose the most suitable method to distribute them to the drivers. These will be posted direct from our external supplier and will not be available for collection from Shearbridge Depot.
Does my vehicle still need to wear my operator's windscreen front and rear visors?
No, this requirement was removed in the May 2025 changes to licensing conditions. For more information, please refer to Section 19.4 of our vehicle specification here.
I am not due to renew my vehicle licence until later in 2025 or 2026. When will I get my new door decal, plate and windscreen disc?
We are doing a phased roll-out of these new decals. All existing drivers will be sent their new Bradford Council door decals to the address on their vehicle application form. When you next renew your licence, your new vehicle plate will be posted to you.
How long will my new plate last?
The new style of Bradford Council plate is designed to last 3 years.This is providing the plate is applied, maintained and cared for properly.
How long will my new Bradford Council door decal last for?
These should last for 5 years, providing you properly fit them to your vehicle, following the instructions provided by MOGO. Applying the decal in an improper manner or to a dirty vehicle will reduce the lifespan of the decal dramatically.
I am licensing a new vehicle. When will I get my mounting bracket for my new plate?
These will be posted to you alongside your plate, windscreen disc, Bradford Council door decal and associated mounting fixings after your vehicle passes inspection.
