Air Source Heat Pump Offers to residents benefitting from the Bradford Warm Homes:
Local Grant Residents scheme

Bradford Council, working with Better Homes Bradford and Warm Low Living, has been delivering fully funded solar PV and battery storage installations to eligible households across the district under the government funded Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme. We're proud of this work and grateful to residents for welcoming our installation teams into their homes.

What we want you to know

We've been made aware that, in some cases, residents have been approached shortly after their solar PV installation was completed by separate companies offering "free" or "very near free" air source heat pump installations, sometimes with claims of eliminating heating bills entirely.

These offers are not connected to Bradford Council, Better Homes Bradford and Warm Low Living, or the Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme in any way. Our installation teams do not pass on your details to third parties, and we do not endorse or recommend any follow-up heating offers made to you after your solar installation.

We are not in a position to comment on any specific company or product. However, we want every resident to have the information they need to make a confident, informed decision before agreeing to any further work on their home, from anyone.

Before agreeing to any further home improvement offer

  • Take your time: No legitimate installer will pressure you to sign up on the spot, especially for something described as “free”
  • Check accreditation independently: Look up the installer directly on the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) and TrustMark websites, rather than relying on certificates shown to you in person
  • Ask how the property was assessed: A genuine air source heat pump installation requires a proper heat loss survey of your home – be cautious of anyone offering an installation without one
  • Understand what “free” means: Check whether the offer is funded through a recognised government scheme (such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme) and ask for this in writing
  • Will the offer be suitable for your home: Be aware that an Air Source Heat Pump is not suitable for every home and in some properties may actually be more expensive to run than a modern gas central heating system
  • Get a second opinion: You're welcome to contact us using the details below if you'd like to check whether an offer is connected to the Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme, or if anything about an approach feels rushed or unclear
  • Don't feel obliged: Agreeing to solar PV and battery installation under the Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme does not commit you to any further work, from us or anyone else

If you're concerned about an offer you've already accepted

If you've already agreed to further work and have concerns, you can:

  • Contact West Yorkshire Trading Standards on 0808 223 1133 for independent advice
  • Check your cancellation rights: most doorstep and distance sales agreements include a 14-day cooling-off period
  • Contact us using the details below and we will help point you in the right direction
