How does an Apprenticeship work?

You will be supported in the workplace to learn new skills and knowledge in relation to your chosen job. In order to do this you may attend on and off the job training which has been agreed with your employer. You will also develop your Maths and English skills.

Why an Apprenticeship could be right for you

  • If you are aged 16 to 18, you will be paid a minimum of £3.30 per hour. Once you reach 19 years or over, a minimum of £3.30 per hour still applies but only in the first year of your Apprenticeship. After this, the National Minimum Wage applies.
  • A minimum of 20 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
  • Flexible entry requirements - your previous learning defines the starting point on your apprenticeship journey.
  • Apprenticeships can start at any time throughout the year.
  • Training is individually designed to meet your needs.
  • Learning takes place in a variety of settings, it is lively, rewarding and enjoyable.
  • Skills for Work have dedicated staff that support you throughout the Apprenticeship.
