Purpose

Projects to improve facilities for Keighley Worth Valley Railway will improve visitor facilities to generate direct economic activity by opening two new spaces to the public:

The Keighley Water Tower to be a Visitor Centre.

The creation of an interpretation space at an engineering facility at Haworth. Developing inclusive volunteer facilities at our hub of activity at Haworth, including overhauling the Railway’s overnight accommodation and washroom to help the Railway be more sustainable by being able to welcome a more diverse volunteer workforce.

Position up to February 2024

Work continuing on designs and costs for Haworth elements in order the contract can be let. Keighley Water Tower work started Sept 23, with match funding from the Railway Heritage Trust. £1m Community Ownership Fund secured for Bridge 27. KWVR are part of the provisional LUF3 award and are currently also working on projects to increase capacity.
