A referendum relating the adoption of the Bingley Neighbourhood Development Plan was held on Thursday 16 July 2026. Those already registered to vote in local elections and live in the Bingley area were eligible to vote in this Referendum.
The question asked in Referendum was “Do you want City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Bingley to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”
Referendum Result
The result of the referendum held on Thursday 16 July 2026 was as follows:

| Number cast in favour of a Yes | 2,915 | 85% |
| Number cast in favour of a No | 499 | 15% |
Further details on the result can be found on the Council’s elections webpages. Following the successful referendum, the Council will formally “make” (adopt) the neighbourhood plan as part of the statutory development plan for the District.

Voter ID is a requirement for electors voting at polling stations in this Referendum. Further information regarding this, and a list of acceptable forms for identification can be found on the Electoral Services website.
