Call for sites
Technical Call for Sites: Monday, 27 October to Monday, 24 November 2025
The adopted Local Development Scheme (LDS) 2025 sets out a clear programme for progression of the Local Plan with the ‘Publication' Stage (Regulation 19) scheduled for Summer 2026.
As the Council is moving towards the final stages in the development of its Local Plan it is holding a final technical Call for Sites to assist in concluding its evidence base and sites information. This is a focused technical Call for Sites exercise covering the following:
- Sites for mineral extraction - Sites that could be available in the future for mineral extraction, processing and/or transportation.
- Sites for waste disposal and recycling - Sites that may be considered suitable to accommodate new waste management infrastructure - particularly Local Authority Collected Waste (LACW), Commercial & Industrial (C&I) waste, and Construction, Demolition & Excavation (CDE) waste.
- Sites for Gypsy and Traveller and Travelling Showpeople accommodation – including sites suitable for small groups and extended families.

Previous general Call for Sites
The Council previously concluded the general Call for Sites exercise for housing, employment and other land uses on 31 March 2024. A small number of sites were submitted following the close of this exercise and have also been included in the land assessment to inform the Local Plan.
Further information
This technical Call for Sites closes on Monday, 24 November at 5pm.
Any land submitted under this technical Call for Sites process will be subject to a detailed assessment. The submission of a site for consideration does not mean any kind of special planning status or presumption in favour of development, neither does it mean that that the Local Plan will contain those sites as specific site allocations.
If submitting a site via email or in hard copy, an Ordnance Survey-based location plan at 1:1250 or 1:2500 scale is required with each submission form. A red line boundary for the promoted site in question must be included on the OS location plan. A blue line boundary must also be included on the OS location plan for all nearby land that is within the same ownership. All accompanying site location plans must be clearly labelled with the promoter's chosen site name.
