Bradford is UK City of Culture 2025, this introduced the district to new audiences and opportunities, and has shown the world what creativity, passion and confidence can deliver. This momentum will continue to drive the legacy of the UK City of Culture year and will underpin the delivery of the ambitions for the district through the District Strategy 2025-2035.

By 2035 it is likely that we will be living in a very different world. The changes that are taking place socially, economically, environmentally and in technology are affecting the way we all live our lives. Developments in technology are changing the way we communicate with each other. This is also changing the way we expect to access services. We are using the internet and websites more both to find information and access services such as pay bills or buy food rather than going to an office or shop and seeing people face to face. The possibilities for digital innovation in 2035 will include things that are not yet invented. This will change what people expect from public services and open new opportunities for digital solutions to improve what is offered. As organisations working in partnership to support people in the Bradford District, we need to understand what matters most to local people, communities, businesses, and investors so that we are united in our work in meeting future challenges. We all need to work together to do everything possible to improve the quality of life and health and wellbeing of everyone who lives here.

This is a time of financial pressure on public services nationally and locally. This means that we need to increase the amount of wealth in the district, to make the best use of the funding available to deliver services and to work to reduce the number of people who need help and care or enter crisis. Preventing people needing care is vital and this is why it is one of our key principles. Bradford has significant needs, and this places cost and demand pressures on public services. Bradford District is however, a special place with significant and unique assets and opportunities which can help us achieve our ambitions. To do this successfully it is more important than ever that partners work together to maximise the impact of our collective resources. All partners will play a vital role in achieving our ambitions for the district. This includes businesses, the public sector and Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) partners. No one organisation can achieve this alone. We must work together to provide joined-up services for people and make the best use of our collective resources.
