Veterans’ organisations and the Department of Work and Pensions can provide a range of support when a member of the Armed Forces Community dies.

Representation at funerals

If you wish the Royal British Legion or a Standard Bearer to be in attendance at a funeral, please contact your local Royal British Legion Branch for further information.

Help with funeral costs

The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) can provide help with the costs of funerals depending on whether or not the deceased or their family were in receipt of specific benefits. Information about eligibility and the online application processes are available via the DWP website.

Veterans Bereavement Support Service are a not for profit organisation run by volunteers and offering a range of low cost and bespoke services to the Armed Forces Community.

Scotty’s Little Soldiers

Scotty’s Little Soldiers offer support to children and young people who have lost a parent due to service in the Armed Forces. This support can include counselling, fun activities, as well as educational and employment support.
