Unemployment in Bradford District

The most recent unemployment figures for June 2026 were published by the Office for National Statistics on 21 July 2026.

The data shows that 24,060 people were claiming unemployment benefit in June 2026 - a rate of 6.9% of the working age population an increase of 210 claimants since last month and a decrease of 1,415 claimants since June 2025. 

There were 5,260 claimants aged between 18 to 24 and 4,550 claimants aged 50+.

Bradford had the highest unemployment rate in the Leeds City Region, most local authorities have seen small increases in their claimant rates in the last month.

The claimant rate for Yorkshire and the Humber was 4.1% and for England was 4.0%.

The unemployment data in the bulletin includes people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance and people claiming Universal Credit who are required to seek work and be available for work.
