I have received a Moving Traffic warning letter

Moving Traffic warning letters in Bradford

Bradford Council is introducing moving traffic enforcement cameras at selected locations across the district to improve road safety, reduce congestion and keep traffic moving. The cameras enforce existing traffic restrictions only. No new traffic rules are being introduced.

As part of the roll out, drivers will receive warning letters instead of immediate fines during the initial enforcement period.

What is a Moving Traffic warning letter?

A Moving Traffic warning letter is a formal notification sent to the registered keeper of a vehicle that has been recorded by a Bradford Council enforcement camera contravening a traffic restriction.

During the first six months of operation at a new camera site, the first offence will result in a warning letter rather than a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

The warning letter is designed to:

  • Raise awareness of the restriction.
  • Give drivers time to adapt to camera enforcement.
  • Encourage compliance without issuing an immediate fine.
  • Support safer and smoother traffic flow.
Important: Warning letters are only issued once

The warning period is intended as a gesture of goodwill. If a driver commits a further offence after receiving a warning letter, a Penalty Charge Notice may be issued. This applies regardless of when the second offence occurs.

Traffic restrictions are already legally enforceable and clearly signposted, and drivers are expected to comply with them whether cameras are present or not
