From Tuesday 4 April Thornton Community Library will be managed by volunteers with support from a local group and Bradford Libraries.
Opening times will remain the same.

The library is situated in the Thornton Community Centre which was purpose built in 1969 and is owned by Bradford Metropolitan District Council and managed by the Social Services Directorate. The building is well situated in the main shopping street of the village and is within easy reach of local shops and health centre. There is a considerable residential development nearby. The library is easily accessible for public transport and limited car parking facilities are provided. The total floor area of the library is 70 square metres.
As well as over 5,000 books and free internet access, an online computer course, word processing and printing, the library offers regular storytimes and access to information throughout the district. The library offers over 200 media items for loan including children's DVD's and adult audio books.
