The Evidence Into Policy and Practice Hub
To reduce health inequalities and improve the health and wellbeing of people across our District, we need our policies, services and practices to be informed by the best available research and evidence. The Evidence for Policy and Practice Hub (EPPH) has been created to provide this research and evidence. The Hub is a collaboration between the Council and University of York academic colleagues.
Academic colleagues have expertise in areas such as health inequalities, housing, welfare policy, creating sustainable communities, education and family support. The Hub offers a research and development service for the Council. It follows an embedded research model where researchers work with Council officers, elected members and our communities to:
- Coproduce and conduct research and develop the evidence base on what works to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.
- Provide specialist advice, information and guidance on research and evidence informed policy and practice.
- Support elected members, policy makers and practitioners in using research and evidence as a routine part of policy making and practice, built on a shared and coproduced research agenda.
The Hub has a core team of two researchers and a policy fellow from the University of York and policy officers from Bradford Council. It is also supported by the University of York Policy Engine.
