HDRC Bradford: about us

The Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Bradford was launched in 2023 with funding from the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). It is one of 30 HDRCs in the UK, and one of four in the Yorkshire region.

The aim of the Bradford HDRC is to sustainably transform the council, so it becomes evidence-led, and data driven, at all levels of decision-making to improve the wider determinants of health and reduce health inequalities.

Our objectives are

  • Transform the culture and capability of our people
  • Create the infrastructure and capacity for collaborative health determinants research
  • Generate, mobilise and translate data and evidence for decision-makers to improve the wider determinants of health and inequalities.
  • Develop a shared research agenda with communities, partners, stakeholders and elected members
  • Work with and for the communities and citizens of Bradford

Our team is made up of researchers, data scientists, academics, policy makers and public contributors who work closely with departments across the Council to improve the way research is conducted, data is handled and evidence is acted upon.

Through our partnership work with University of York, University of Bradford, Bradford Institute of Health Research
