Co-production

Co-production is at the heart of the HDRC Bradford and means involving local communities within our work so that decision making power is shared and benefit is mutual.

Our aim is to strengthen and embed ‘community voice’ in evidence led decision making in the local authority, through developing the necessary partnerships, infrastructure, governance, and resources.

Specifically we are:

  • Co-funding a Youth Ambassadors project as a method to hear from young people about the things that impact on their health and wellbeing.
  • Supporting local authority staff to carry out high quality co-production by providing best practice models, tools and resources and links to our partner expertise.
  • Creating practical processes, for example role descriptions and ways to reimburse public contributors, to enable teams to work directly with communities.
  • Testing co-production methodology at different stages of the research cycle and disseminating our learning with colleagues and wider partners.

We work closely with Bradford Institute for Health Research (BIHR) and adhere to the values of the ‘ActEarly’ Co-production Strategy of Equality, Agency and Reciprocity within our work.
