To support the transition to electric vehicles (EV) Bradford Council have teamed up with Let’s Experience Electric to assist residents and businesses to explore some of the benefits of EV adoption as well as other sustainable transport solutions.

Everyone is welcome on Friday, 18 September, from 10am to 3pm in Centenary Square Bradford.

We will be engaging with residents and businesses to highlighting the latest advancements in EV technology, our plans for the EV charging infrastructure, sign posting towards grants and funding, so that informed choices based your own needs can be made whatever your budget.

For anyone thinking about their next vehicle, this free event, delivered with the support of Let’s Experience Electric provides a valuable opportunity to see first-hand the growing range of electric vehicles now available and to speak directly with experts about the practicalities of ownership.

Visitors will have the opportunity to:

  • explore a wide range of EVs
  • take a look at LNER Bradford Beryl electric bikes
  • speak to local dealers and industry experts about the latest advancements in EV technology
  • find out more about EV projects supported by Bradford Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, including the installation of public charging points and the purchase and rollout of electric buses on the region’s public transport network
  • view EV charging demonstrations.

Business support sessions

Bradford district businesses are invited to attend Business support sessions with key speakers in City Hall.

The sessions will provide information about grants for electric vehicle upgrades from the Clean Air Team, fleet decarbonisation opportunities from not-for-profit independent advisors CENEX, Northern PowerGrid will detail their success in managing the electricity distribution network, find out about the work that Charge Point Operators are doing across the Bradford District to improve the EV infrastructure and what central government support is available for business depots.

Whilst the Agenda timings are yet to be finalised the following organisations have been confirmed to be speaking:

  • Energy Savings Trust – To provide an update on the Office of Zero Emission Vehicles grant programs and available support
  • Cenex – To provide an overall of the fleet and depot electrification journey and the required steps and planning
  • Northern Powergrid – To provide an update on the regional power network and the process for new connections
  • City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council – To provide an update on available grant programs and support from the council

Further details will be released once they are confirmed.

There will also be organisations that provide services and infrastructure in an small exhibition area, this will include companies that install and operate EV chargepoints.
