Regeneration and Growth

Our goal for 2035 is to lay the foundations for Bradford to grow as a global, knowledge-based economy. Powered by our youth and diversity, our culture, and enterprise. We will lead in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, smart technology, and creativity. This transformation will bring better jobs, greener places, and prosperity that every community can share in, making Bradford a district confident on the world stage.

Our Regeneration and Growth Plan is built around three focus areas:

  • People: We will equip every resident with the future-ready skills they need and ensure equal access to opportunity across the District. By celebrating Bradford’s rich cultural heritage, we will boost tourism and foster a vibrant, inclusive community where diversity and innovation drive sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
  • Productivity: We will build powerful partnerships between business and academia, accelerate the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in high-value sectors, and expand Bradford’s reach into global markets. Through innovation, smart working and sustainable economic development, we will secure the District’s competitive advantage on the world stage.
  • Place: We are revolutionising transport and mobility to make it easier, greener, and more connected for everyone. At the same time, we will enhance the appeal of our city centre and towns, lead the way in green energy production, and revitalise public spaces, creating a sustainable, welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.

Our Partnership’s Priorties

Objective 1: By taking a sector- and cluster-based approach, create the conditions to secure business and job growth, supporting new businesses, encouraging employers to locate here, and enabling existing enterprises to expand.

Objective 2: Increase skills levels to catalyse increases in productivity, drive business growth and boost employment rates.

Objective 3: Deliver improved transport links and connectivity, by progressing: Mass Transit and improved links to Leeds; a through rail station; a reformed and renewed bus network.

Objective 4: Develop the image and profile of the district capitalising the success and legacy of the year as UK City of Culture attracting talent, investment and visitors.

Objective 5: Ensure that everyone in Bradford District has access to decent, safe, secure and affordable housing. This means increasing the supply of new homes, improving the quality and energy efficiency of existing homes, tackling overcrowding and fuel poverty, and raising standards in the private rented sector.
