How we Monitor Council Performance
Our performance management framework offers a structured way for the Council to define its goals, establish how to achieve them, monitor progress, and provide feedback and development. It acts as a roadmap, outlining strategies, processes, and tools for consistently evaluating and improving performance, ensuring that individual and team efforts are aligned with overarching organisational and district objectives.
The Framework is designed to promote a culture of accountability, made possible by providing clarity about what is expected and how this will be managed. This accountability involves everyone in the organisation, all of whom are clear about what is expected from them and how their work is part of delivering on the ambitions set out in the District Strategy.
The Framework makes clear linkages through from national, regional and local policy, strategies and plans cascading into service plans and individual objectives.
This will inform individual performance management and reporting to committees, elected members, Council leadership, Corporate Management Team and departments. Improving the governance and compliance around these processes, as well enabling better quality reporting through this integrated approach to performance management will ensure greater transparency and accountability across all levels of the organisation.
The Local Outcomes Framework was published by Government in February 2026 and this will be integrated into the Council Performance Framework.
