Exemption process is now open for Bradford District residents and businesses with non-compliant vehicles.

Passenger cars or motorbikes will not be charged in the Bradford Clean Air Zone.
If the vehicle you are driving meets the required emission standards this will not be charged, you do not need to apply for an exemption.

In addition to the V5 document you will need to check for any additional documents required for your vehicle type using the table at the bottom of this page. Then attach these additional documents at the end of your application form.
Exemptions are only applicable if you have owned the vehicle prior to the 26 September 2022, please note that you are liable for any charges for your vehicle until your exemption has been awarded.

Once you have saved your application you can then add supporting documents before you submit your application.
On submission of your application form, the council will acknowledge receipt of your application. The council will process applications after receipt of the application and all required evidence.
Once your application has been assessed, the council will notify you via email to advise if your exemption has been awarded.
Once an exemption is awarded you will not have to pay to drive in the Bradford Clean Air Zone.
Exemptions will run until 31/12/2025, those exemptions awarded with an end date of 31/12/2024 will be extended. Limited supply (sunset) exemptions which will run until the expected delivery date of the replacement vehicle.
