Debt and financial problems

Bradford District Credit Union

Bradford District Credit Union

Bradford District Credit Union's vision is:

  • To be well known locally, serving the District for responsible savings, budgeting and lending.
  • To be a viable alternative to high street bankers and other high interest lenders.
  • To expand membership and services in a sustainable way, inclusive of financially excluded communities.
  • To be a modern and ethical credit union that encourages savings, budgeting and lending for the future to members.

Our office is in City Hall Bradford or online at www.bdcu.co.uk or email credit.union@bdcu.co.uk

We’re here for anyone who lives or works within Bradford District.

We ask you to save £3 per week as a minimum or £1 per week if you are unwaged.

You can make payments using our online service or by Standing Order, Payroll deduction, cash or Paypoint. We can now also accept savings via Benefit payments.

Jam Jar Debit Card

We have a 'Jam Jar' card that allows you to budget your benefits through a handy app to split your monthly credit into electronic folders to ensure money lasts the month. It's only open to Credit Union members, is incredibly useful in budgeting and cannot go overdrawn!

Workshops

We have ‘Jargon Buster’ workshop that explains common banking and lending terms that people often get caught out over from understanding APR, to Pay-Day lenders, ask for details.

Incommunities £10 Voucher

Incommunities provide a £10 incentive for their tenants opening Credit Union accounts.

Faith Friendly

We are 'Faith Friendly' as we do not pay interest on savings but rather any surplus is given back to members in the form of a dividend. Surplus is what is left over once running costs have been taken off and some money has been put into reserves.
