View planning applications or check the progress of an application

Using the online planning system on a mobile device

Before you log in to the system on a mobile, you must first log in to it via a laptop or PC and accept the notification for GDPR consent. After doing this, you will be able to use the online planning system on a mobile.

If you log in to our online planning system on a mobile device without using a laptop of PC first, you will receive an error message that says 'Server Error'.

About our online planning system

You can view details of all planning applications submitted to the Council on our online planning system. 

You should be able to view documents for all applications submitted after 1 January 1997, as well as many from before that date. This includes a copy of the application form, plans, supporting information, comments by consultees, decision notice and S106 agreement (where relevant).

Please note that for data protection reasons not all documents associated with a planning file may be made available to view via our online planning system. For example on applications where a decision has been made, the application form is not available to view online.

Some applications can have many documents, and as a result may take some time to load depending on your internet connection.

Online mapping system

Alternatively, if you wish to locate a planning application for development involving land rather than buildings, residential or commercial development or where the building concerned is a conversion, a map search may be more appropriate.

Viewing historical files

For planning applications submitted before 1 January 1997 more limited information and documents are available on the online planning system.

Use the online mapping system to locate the application you are interested in. You will need to check both the "Planning Applications within 100 metres" and the "Images" of the historical plotting sheets. Please note that applications before 1993 have an alternative historical reference number, for example:
