Join us for a world record breaking attempt, connecting people from across the Bradford district in a celebration of our friendly, diverse and extraordinary district.
Council staff are working with schools, communities, local businesses, other organisations and people across the Bradford District to attempt to beat a world record and raise money for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
The #LoveBradford event is on Thursday, 15 September in City Park, Bradford.
Everyone is welcome. Schools must register via either the schools registration pages. For other people, it is not essential that you sign up in advance – but if you do sign up it helps us ensure the smooth running of the event.
Everyone who takes part is also encouraged to make a donation or raise sponsorship for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which this year is supporting the charity Young Minds, ‘the voice for young people’s mental health and wellbeing’.
The world record attempt is to create the ‘Longest chain of people making heart-shaped hand gestures’. People must cross their arms and connect with the people next to them to make the popular heart-shape gesture with their hands. Watch this video to see how the chain will be formed. We will need to maintain the chain for one minute to secure the world record – so no fidgeting!
We need around 2,300 people - or more - to beat the previous world record. Our interconnected chain of people will celebrate Bradford’s amazing energy and enterprising spirit, bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together, raising positive aspirations and showing how proud we are of the Bradford District.
Our world record attempt promises to be a visual treat as well as great fun and an uplifting experience for all involved. The event also coincides with the World Curry Festival - an event that brings people from all backgrounds together to celebrate their love of food, culture and entertainment.
We are using the hashtag #LoveBradford and encouraging people to get involved on social media. You could:
Businesses and partner organisations
District residents and other members of the public
We welcome requests from people of all ages to take part in the world record attempt.
If you are taking part please also help raise money for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which this year is supporting the charity Young Minds, ‘the voice for young people’s mental health and wellbeing’.
