White Ribbon Bradford

Never commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women. whiteribbon.org.uk

White Ribbon UK was founded in 2007 and is part of a global movement encouraging men to play their part in eliminating male violence against women.

The campaign engages men and boys directly – so they understand the scale of the problem, and take action to end male violence against women.  We want men to become part of the solution, alongside women.

Bradford Council is proud to be a "White Ribbon Accredited Local Authority". This means that we have agreed to fulfil a two-year White Ribbon UK Action Plan. This involves raising awareness of violence against women, encouraging men to become active in opposing male violence towards women, working with local businesses, organisations, communities and individuals to make Bradford a 'White Ribbon District', implementing a Domestic Abuse & Sexual Violence Policy for employees and Councillors, commemorating White Ribbon Day on 25th November each year, and much more.

In order to change behaviours and grow the campaign we are encouraging men to make the pledge "never to commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women". We are also asking male employees, Councillors, members of the public and colleagues in other organisations, to consider becoming White Ribbon Ambassadors. Ambassadors are men who are prepared to stand up and speak out against violence against women and girls in a variety of ways.  These men can come from all walks of life but share a common goal of changing male behaviour towards women for the better. Women interested in supporting the campaign are very welcome to become White Ribbon Champions.

Violence against Men. Whilst White Ribbon UK focuses on eradicating male violence against women, both White Ribbon UK and Bradford Council are equally concerned about anyone suffering abuse.
