Closed circuit television (CCTV) is one of the best weapons against crime and people feel safer with it when they are out and about.
All Bradford Council’s security cameras are watched by our control room staff 24 hours a day.
Our staff look out for criminal behaviour all over the district. If they spot anything they can alert the police, car park attendants, street wardens or other agencies immediately. The police can see the same images as our control room and the cameras can follow a person’s movement from area to area.
We keep recordings from the cameras for a month and everything is confidential, unless pictures are needed as evidence in court.
Individuals can ask to see CCTV footage of themselves using the Subject Access Request form. Anyone else on the footage will have to be erased before you can see it, unless they all agree to you seeing it. And if it is not possible to identify you clearly, we will not be able to give you the footage.
If you require footage for road traffic collisions or other civil matters please contact us.
If you are an insurance company or a solicitor acting on behalf of an insurance company, we charge £45 to access the system. If we download any footage we charge a further £85.
Recorded material may be used for bona fide training purposes such as police or staff training. Under no circumstances will we release recordings for commercial training or entertainment purposes.
