Pedestrianised zone in Bradford

Vehicular access to the pedestrianised zone consisting of parts of Darley Street, Kirkgate, Bank Street, Tyrrel Street, Hustlergate and Ivegate is restricted by Traffic Regulation (Consolidation) (No. 4) Order 1988 as previously approved by the Transportation, Highways and Engineering sub-committee. The object is to create a safer and more pleasant environment for pedestrians to conduct their, principally shopping, business.

Within the paved area the following restrictions are in force:

  1. No waiting at any time
  2. all vehicles are prohibited except for:
    • loading and unloading between 4pm and 10.30am
    • access to the Kirkgate Centre underground service bay
    • certain severely disabled permit holders
    • essential access permit holders (e.g. private parking spaces)

Please note that all loading, unloading, collections etc. must be carried out before 10.30am or after 4pm.

Vehicles inside the zone at other times will receive a ticket and may be impeded by the removable bollards which will be in situ from 10.30am until 4pm.

Businesses are requested to keep their suppliers informed.

For access queries please contact Parking Services.

Observing these arrangements will help to make the City Centre a more attractive and secure place for shoppers and visitors, who in turn generate more business for city centre traders.
