We are pleased to inform you that counter appointments at Shearbridge Depot can now be made online

You will find instructions on how to use the booking system, the appointments you can book and the time limits that apply.

Operators and their base managers are being trained in the use of the system so please speak to your operator to ask them to help you or to make appointments on your behalf.

Online booking helpful tips

If booking appointment to come and book a vehicle in ensure you bring to the appointment:

  • Completed form
  • Payment
  • Documents if you require – Log Book, MOT, Insurance

If booking an appointment for picking up plates for a vehicle ensure the vehicle has passed and you bring to the appointment:

  • All documents to bring – Log Book, MOT, Insurance (if not already produced), Badge, Old Plates
  • Retest fee if applicable

If booking appointment to come to renew a badge make sure and bring the following to the appointment:

  • Your DBS (CRB) is valid for the duration of the badge applying for 1 or 3 year
  • Completed form, Driving Licence, Old badge, Medical Form (if applicable), Fee

If booking appointment to come to renew a DBS (CRB) make sure you bring the following to the appointment:

  • 3 forms of identification from the checklist, e.g. Driving Licence, valid passport, bank statement – less than 3 months old, National Insurance number
  • Relevant fee
  • Completed application form

If booking an appointment to change the operator on your badge bring the following to the
appointment:

  • Old badge
  • Operator name moving to
  • Fee

If booking an appointment to advise us of RTA bring the following to the appointment:

  • Plates internal / external
  • RTA details – date

If booking appointment to advise us of a change of address or Penalty Points bring the following to the appointment:

  • Driving licence with the new address / Points on licence

If booking an appointment to renew your Operator Licence ensure a you have already passed a base audit and bring the following to the appointment:

  • Completed renewal form
  • Ofcom / DTI licence – if applicable
  • Public Liability Insurance
  • Fee

If booking an appointment because you have lost your badge and need a duplicate bring to the appointment the following:

  • Driving Licence
  • Fee

If booking an appointment to put a Cherished Number plate on your vehicle bring to the appointment the following:

  • All documents from DVLA re the transfer of the plate
  • MOT, LB, INS, Old Plates, Badge
  • Fee

If booking an appointment to hand in plates for a refund bring to the appointment the following:

  • Both plates internal / external

If you want to book a Knowledge Test or training modules you need to visit the office or telephone - these cannot be booked online.

If you want an appointment with Enforcement you need to contact the office.

If you are a new applicant you need to contact the office for an office, however if you have not submitted a DBS (CRB) follow the process below:

If booking an appointment to submit a DBS (CRB) as a new applicant bring to the appointment the following:

  • Completed Medical
  • Completed Statutory declaration and photo signed by solicitor
  • 3 forms of identification from the checklist – e.g. Driving Licence, valid passport, bank statement – less
    than 3 months old, National Insurance number
  • Relevant fee

Online booking FAQs

Can I book an appointment for the same day I am making it?

No, at least one full clear day must be left. For example, if you book via the system on a Monday then the appointment needs to be made for Wednesday.

What if I need to be seen that day?

If you need a same day appointment please come to Shearbridge and take a ticket. Please note that all pre-booked appointments take priority over any other visitors.

What appointments can I make?

You can make an appointment for all services that can be handled at the counters at Shearbridge. For example, you can book an appointment to come in and book your vehicle for test, or you can book for a badge appointment, complete DBS forms, collect vehicle plates or even make an appointment to visit to then book your vehicle for test.

Can I book my knowledge test or vehicle test online?

No. These are not services carried out at the counter and therefore have to be booked by visiting Shearbridge or by phoning on 01274 434316.

If my badge is due for renewal, can I come in at any time?

No. Your badge can be renewed 1 month before it expires, not before that.

When does my DBS need renewing?

If you want to renew your badge for 1 year the DBS must last for that 1 year period. If your DBS will not cover the new badge period then you must renew the DBS at least 6 weeks before your badge expires.

What if I want to come to Shearbridge for several different things to be done?

Each service needs a 15 minute time slot. For example, if you want to come in for 3 things then please book 3 timeslots.
