Stay safe in a firearms or weapons attack

Do you know what you would do if you came under fire or heard gunshots at work or in a public place?

An information film advising on what to do to keep safe in the event of a firearms or weapons attack has been released by the National Police Chiefs’ Council.

The four minute film, Stay Safe: Firearms and Weapons Attack sets out three key steps for keeping safe. There is also an information leaflet (PDF).

The film and leaflet advise that if you are caught up in an incident to ‘run, hide and tell’ - guidance which can be applied to many places and situations.

Recent events around the world remind us all of the threat we face, which in the UK is considered as ‘Severe’, meaning an attack is highly likely. Police and security agencies are working tirelessly to protect the public across the UK. Bradford isn't any more at risk than other cities but, like all other UK cities, local partners are taking sensible planning precautions. It is also important that communities remain vigilant and aware of how to protect themselves if the need arises.
