Bradford Council’s Markets Team is joining up with the team from the National Science and Media Museum to put on an exciting Science Showdown event in the Oastler Market on Saturday 5 August.

They will be pitting three important scientists against each other when they go head to head using some amazing experiments. It’s the audience who picks the winner, so come along and cheer for your favourite to help decide who will win.

The exciting experiments will showcase scientific discoveries about the solar system, how light travels, and that prevention is better than the cure!

The free shows will each last 30 minutes and will take place at 11am, 12pm and 1pm in the Oastler Market Pop Up Cinema Room, which is located at the back of the market.

This event is one of a series happening at different venues this summer while the National Science and Media Museum is temporarily closed.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting this free event in conjunction with the National Science and Media Museum in our Oastler Market this weekend. I’m sure it will prove to be a fascinating event, so come along and cheer for your favourite.”

Hattie Charnley-Shaw, Learning Producer at the National Science and Media Museum, said: “This summer we’re taking science on the road, popping up at libraries, museum and community venues across Bradford. You can catch us at Oastler Market this Saturday from 11am to 2pm with our Science Showdown featuring three groundbreaking scientists and three exciting experiments to match.”
