A main road through Denholme in the Bradford district is to be closed for resurfacing work on six Sundays starting on Sunday 23 July.

Subject to weather conditions, the A629 Keighley Road between George Street and Whalley Lane is to be closed to through traffic between 7.30am and 7pm on Sundays between 23 July and Sunday 27 August.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “These works on the A629 are part of our ongoing investment in our road network to make journeys safer and reduce our maintenance backlog. We recognise that this work will cause some short term disruption, but we have done everything possible to keep this to a minimum. Pedestrian access will be unaffected by the work and residents and businesses will be allowed access when it’s safe to do so, but delays are to be expected. Signs warning people about the roadworks are already up and people are asked to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.”
