Major resurfacing is planned on the A6177 Smiddles Lane in Bradford. The section of road being resurfaced is eastbound from Dovesdale Road to Manchester Road.

The work is planned for Sunday 9 and Sunday 16 September between 7.30am and 7pm on both days.

The road will be closed and traffic will be diverted along Thornton Lane, Little Horton Lane, Clarges Street and Ransdale Road.

People are advised to expect delays due to the disruption and to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

A Bradford Council spokesperson, said: "We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this essential maintenance work. Given the high volume of traffic which use this road, we have organised these works so they are taking place when the road is at its quietest. The resurfacing of this section of road is necessary and although it is planned to take place outside of its busiest time it is still expected to cause disruption. We are advising people to use alternative routes and to avoid the area if possible."
