New coffee shop opens thanks to Bradford Council funding

Ten new jobs have been created with the opening of Tiffin Coffee Ltd in the beautiful Wool Exchange in Bradford.

The venue on Bank Street has been created with 'olde world' charm in line with the surroundings of the stunning Grade I listed building.

The cafe, which displays its own distinctive artwork and products, has been helped by Bradford Council through its City Centre Growth Scheme.

The recipients have benefited from a £100,000 grant which has been used to refurbish the premises including fitting it out with new equipment.

The cafe occupies a unit that was vacated last summer when the previous occupant - the Health Assessment Centre - relocated.

Coun Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: "This fantastic new business is yet another great addition to the food and drink offer in our city centre. I wish them well in their new venture and look forward to visiting myself."

The £17.5m Government funding package was secured by Bradford Council who matched it with another £17.5m in funding to launch the scheme in November 2012.

The growth zone has been successful in stimulating investment and private sector growth in the city centre through a range of incentives. These include rate rebates for eligible businesses that create new employment opportunities, either by locating or expanding in the city centre or through a range of capital grants.

So far over 200 businesses have received funding from the Scheme since its launch in 2012. The scheme has recently been extended and will now run up until March 2020.
