New care home in Saltaire

Bradford Council’s Executive will be asked to approve a renewed plan to build the new short-stay care home facility in Saltaire (the former Neville Grange Care home site) when it meets next week.

The new care home facility in Saltaire will provide short-stay care home beds for older people in need of respite or who are leaving hospital but need to build their confidence back before returning home. It will also allow the planned closure of two small older care homes that are no longer fit for purpose.

Designed to support people who are living with dementia and their families, the new care home will provide short-term care in partnership with health services to rehabilitate and support people back in to the community.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “This new scheme is a much needed addition to our portfolio of accommodation for our residents in the district providing a better care and support offer and allowing residents to live more fulfilled and independent lives.

“The cost of renovating the existing care homes outweighs the long term costs of building this new care home which will comply with government buildings regulations as well as help in reducing our carbon footprint.”
