Local Friendship Support Grants now available

A second round of the Bradford District Local Friendship Support Grants has gone live today (Friday, 21 July).

The Local Friendship Support Grants of between £250 and £2000 are for local groups in the Bradford District who support people living with dementia and or a sensory impairment who have ideas of how to expand or develop their group to help people build friendships, live independently or to engage with the local community.  These grants are also open to other local support groups who have ideas about how to become more accessible for people with sensory impairments and or living with dementia.

A series of workshops will be held to explain how people can access these grants and as well support in completing an application.

Local Friendship Grants Workshop for groups supporting those living with dementia – this is a workshop to give further information on the grants process, the criteria and how to apply, focussing on groups supporting people living with dementia:

  • Wednesday, 2 August, 10am to 11.30am
  • CNet Offices, Enterprise Hub, 114-116 Manningham Lane, Bradford, BD8 7JF

Local Friendship Grants Workshop for Groups supporting those with sensory impairments – this is a workshop to give further information on the grants process, the criteria and how to apply, focussing on groups supporting people with sensory impairments (please note there will be BSL interpreters at this session):

  • Thursday, 3 August, 10.30am to 12 noon
  • Morley Street Resource Centre, 124 Morley Street, Bradford, BD7 1BB

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said:  “We are really pleased to be launching the second round of this grant funding and we have already had some real innovative ideas coming forward in applications received in the first round. However, there is still more to be done and we want to encourage more local support groups who have the expertise and experience to come forward and make a difference in our communities.”
