On Armed Forces’ Day, Saturday 24 June, there will be a Drumhead Service and Armed Forces’ event in Norfolk Gardens, Bradford city centre.

The Drumhead Service will start at 11am and will be led by Dean of Bradford, The Very Reverend Andy Bowerman followed by a welcome speech by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Gerry Barker.

The event will offer Bradford residents the chance to stand together and celebrate the men and women, both past and present, who serve our country.

Following the Service family activities will also be held in Norfolk Gardens, Bradford.  There will be exhibitors from across the district to provide information on the heritage of the district and showcase the organisations that work to preserve the memory of those who have served, including our local Covenant Partnership.

There will be fairground rides and face painting and an exhibition of military artefacts.

With Bradford Literature Festival happening just around the corner in City Park, there will be more activities for all to enjoy.

The public will also have the opportunity to make their own pledges of support to the Armed Forces’ Community.

Lord Mayor of Bradford Cllr Gerry Barker, said:  “It is really important that we honour the sacrifices that continue to be made on our behalf by members of our armed forces’ and their families. I do hope that people come along and show their support by attending these events.”

Cllr Joanne Dodds, Armed Forces Champion, said: “We have many currently serving personnel and armed forces veterans across the Bradford District. This is our opportunity to show them our support, celebrate their contribution and to give our thanks for the magnificent role our armed forces play every day and the sacrifices made by so many. We welcome everyone at the events  who would like to join us in honouring our armed forces."
