Bingley Music Live Emerging Talent Competition Finalists Announced

The organisers of the annual Emerging Talent Competition, giving up-and-coming acts the chance to perform on stage at Bingley Music Live, have chosen the eight acts that will go through to the final to battle it out for the coveted prize.

Each of the acts will perform in front of a panel of judges at the grand final of the competition on Friday 8 June starting at 7pm at The Exchange on Russell Street in Keighley.

The eight bands are competing for one of two slots on the Main Stage and one of two slots on the 2nd Stage at the Bradford Council-run festival at Bingley's Myrtle Park on 31 August to 2 September.

The acts chosen for the final are Pretty Little Somethings, The Light Show, Ian Bareham, Glue, Ego Stages, Sauce, Critical Reaction and Kilnsey Green.

Michael Watmough from The Exchange, said: "We've had an amazing four heats with some real top talent. The final has eight acts that are genuinely exciting and some of the best unsigned talent Yorkshire has to offer.

"The Emerging Talent competition is such an important event for the local music community and brings musicians together in a very positive way. We're excited for the final showdown!"

Coun Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Environment, Sport and Culture, said: "This contest is a real opportunity for local up and coming acts to perform on a bigger platform and gain a wider following and the level of talent entering this competition keeps on improving year on year."

Headline acts playing Bingley Music Live this year are Noel Gallagher's Highflying Birds, Shed Seven, Jake Bugg, Gomez, Public Image Limited, Melanie C, The Cribs and many more.

The event, which has been going in its current format for the past 12 years and is organised by Bradford Council has swiftly become one of Yorkshire's most celebrated festivals.

It has a capacity of 15,000 on each day and creates a great atmosphere, giving a real boost to the town of Bingley's economy.

The Council has once again joined forces with Bradford and Bingley Sports Club to provide camping facilities for festivalgoers. Information about this can also be found on the festival website.
