Bingley Music Live - Alternative Travel Arrangements, Saturday 1 Sept

A rail strike by Northern Rail is set to affect some festivalgoers leaving Bingley Music Live on Saturday 1 September.

Organisers Bradford Council, are encouraging those who were planning to travel by train to make alternative arrangements in advance of travelling to the festival.

Train services will run on a reduced timetable throughout the day. The last trains from Bingley on Saturday 1st are expected to be around 7pm.

Bradford Council has also put together a list of alternatives for festivalgoers travelling to and from the event:

Buses

Regular buses will be running from Bingley to Keighley, Shipley, Bradford and Leeds where you can get linking services for onwards journey. Please visit www.wymetro.com/plan-a-journey/ to plan your journey. Below is a list of times and services that may be useful to you:

  • to Leeds via Shipley (Bus number 60) leaves Bingley at 9.24pm and 10.24pm
  • to Keighley (Bus number 662) leaves Bingley at 9.46pm then every 30 minutes until 11.46pm
  • to Bradford via Wilsden and Allerton (bus number 616) leaves Bingley at 9.27pm then every 30 minutes until 10.54pm
  • to Bradford via Shipley (Bus number 662) leaves Bingley at 9.39pm then every 30 minutes until 11.39pm

Taxis

Extra taxi ranks will run on Bradford Road outside Beckfoot School for people going towards Bradford and Leeds, and on Keighley Road outside All Saints Parish Church for people going towards Keighley and Skipton. There will also be an additional designated pick up point for pre-booked taxis on Wellington Street outside Bingley Railway Station. For local taxi companies call:

Park and Ride

Pick up points

If you're getting picked up then please arrange for this to be somewhere a short walk out of the town centre as roads in Bingley will be closed after the event from approx. 9.30pm until 10.30pm for safety reasons.

There are two allocated pickup points:  

  • Waterloo Road Car Park off Wellington Street
  • Croft Road, Crossflatts then the shuttle service can take people directly to the festival (Park and Ride prices apply)

Car sharing

There is an option to car share by using Freewheelers and GoCarShare services, for more information please visits their websites

Camping

There is still space available for people to camp at the Bradford and Bingley Sports Club which is within walking distance of the festival site. To book camping visit www.beescamping.co.uk

Bradford Council also advise that People may want to delay their travel and stay on in Bingley continuing their night at the many bars and pubs in the town before travelling home when the buses and taxis may be quieter.

Disabled festivalgoers are reminded to check the information they’ve been sent about accessing the site and car parking arrangements.

A Bradford Council spokesperson, said: "It is unfortunate that the strike by Northern Rail coincides with the Saturday of Bingley Music Live.

"Even though this is something which is entirely out of our control, we have tried to put things in place to help those who were planning on using the trains.

"We ask that people think about alternative arrangements before the festival, expect transport to be busy and have patience."
