What are mental health day care services?

Day services support people on their path to recovery.

Services include those provided by an organisation called Making Space on behalf of the Council. Other services provided by the Council include Time Out and Compass.

Who are the services for?

Working age adults who are experiencing mental ill health

What services are available?

  • Time Out - this is where someone comes to your home for a few hours to provide companionship and support so your main carer has a break
  • Compass– this is an alternative to a day service. You are matched with someone who provides services and you can spend the day with them at their home or doing activities you enjoy.
  • Making Space – this service provides:
    • activities to help improve your spiritual, physical and mental wellbeing
    • education, training, voluntary work and employment
    • social session: a stepping stone to increasing social participation
    • we will encourage and support you to be actively involved in the development, planning and delivery of services

How do I access the services?

You need to be referred by a mental health professional. You can contact a mental health professional either through your GP or through a community mental health team for an assessment or by referral to us.

Is there a charge for using the services?

There may be a charge for the services provided. We will carry out a financial assessment and let you know what help is available dependant on your personal circumstances.

To support people in recovery and help them obtain or maintain the skills needed to gain employment. The Cellar Trust will support people who use mental health services either maintain or obtain employment and / or education and training in mainstream settings.
