Highway Projections
Licences are required for any display that may protrude/project over a public highway.
In the City Centre the Council will consider licensing the following pavement obstructions:
- Pavement cafes
- "A" Boards
- Shop pavement displays
Subject to them meeting stringent criteria on size and location that provides adequate pavement width for the safe passage of pedestrians. Each licence is issued subject to "specific conditions of licence". The Council imposes a total ban on "A" Boards on the main road network in the interests of road safety.
The Council reserves its right to cover its annual costs on the issuing of licences.
