Waste Disposal

Welcome to the Waste Disposal section of the Waste Management website.

Our aim is to:

  • Provide a waste reception and disposal services that is efficient, effective and delivers a high level of customer satisfaction promoting community cohesion and equality in all aspects of service delivery.

Bradford MDC as a Waste Disposal Authority handles 280,000 tonnes per annum of municipal waste through its two waste transfer stations at Bradford and Keighley.

The Waste Transfer Stations act as storage points for Household and Trade Waste generated by the Community. It also provides the means for waste to be segregated and bulked into large quantities for disposal to landfill or for recycling, reuse as raw materials.

Waste that is not recycled is transported from Bradford to Welbeck Landfill site near Wakefield, operated by WRG. For further information on WRG, visit the WRG website. Waste from Keighley Transfer station is transported to Skibeden Landfill site near Skipton, operated by Yorwaste. For further information on Yorwaste, visit the Yorwaste website.

There are no suitable landfill sites in the Bradford area.
