CHAS Housing Aid Second Time A Round

CHAS Housing Aid

Bradford Council is working in partnership with CHAS in the BD8 and BD9 areas.

CHAS is a long established charity based in Bradford for over 40 years helping people with housing related problems.

STAR will re-use items of furniture and domestic appliances (that are in a good serviceable condition).

All items will be collected and stored carefully to increase their chance of re-use.

STAR want to prevent re-usable things being wasted.

STAR aim to re-use rather than recycle, which means using things for their original intention rather than salvaging raw materials.

Furniture is checked that it is in good serviceable condition.

White Goods (or domestic appliances), are inspected, cleaned, repaired and tested.

Goods are then sold at budget prices.

Items wanted:

  • Washers
  • Gas cookers
  • Electrical cookers
  • Sofas
  • Armchairs (either as a pair or as part of 3 piece suite)
  • Beds (Single, double, kingsize, cots, bedsettees), bases and/or mattresses
  • Dining Tables
  • Dining Chairs (sets of 4)
  • Coffee tables
  • Wardrobes
  • Chest of drawers
  • Bedside cabinets

All items should be:

  • in good clean condition and suitable for reuse;
  • generally be less than 10 years old, (except wardrobes and drawers);
  • kept indoors until we can come to collect them.

STAR provide goods to people in need. Some may have come to CHAS through other advice and support agencies, others just through word of mouth or seeing something in the paper.

Whilst CHAS started out as a church-based organisation, it is now a community based charity that offers its services to anyone in the Bradford District. Staff, volunteers, customers and clients reflect the diverse community here in Bradford.
